Sculptra
Sculptra is an injectable biostimulatory treatment made from poly‑L‑lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable polymer that acts as a scaffold to trigger your skin’s own collagen production rather than simply “filling” lines. Once injected into the deeper dermis or subcutaneous layer, the PLLA microparticles induce a controlled healing response, leading to new type I and III collagen over months for gradual, structural improvement in volume, firmness and skin quality.
-
Sculptra contains microscopic PLLA particles suspended in sterile water; after injection the water is absorbed, leaving PLLA distributed in the tissue.
These particles trigger a mild, controlled inflammatory response, activating macrophages and fibroblasts (the cells that make collagen).
Over weeks to months, fibroblasts lay down new collagen fibres around the PLLA particles, thickening and reinforcing the dermis and subcutaneous tissue.
The PLLA gradually breaks down and is eliminated, but the new collagen it stimulated remains, giving longer‑lasting structural support and volume.

Face (mid‑face, temples, jawline)
Indicated for age‑related volume loss, flattening of the cheeks, hollow temples and deeper folds (e.g. nasolabial lines), as well as general loss of facial support.
The goal is to restore structural contours and lift by rebuilding collagen in the deeper layers, not to create a “filled” or puffy look.
Body (buttocks, hip dips, arms, knees, décolleté) - COMING SOON
Used off‑face to address laxity, contour defects and volume loss, for example: buttock enhancement, hip dips, upper arm crepiness, above‑knee laxity and chest lines.
Collagen stimulation in these areas can improve projection, smooth transitions (e.g. hip dips), and tighten crepey or thinned skin over a course of sessions.
Cellulite and Surface Irregularities - COMING SOON
When injected into cellulite dimples, Sculptra increases underlying collagen and dermal thickness, softening indentations and improving the overlying skin texture.
It can also support improvement in stretch marks and general “crêpe” appearance by reinforcing the dermal matrix.
-
Sculptra is typically performed as a series rather than a one‑off treatment; for facial rejuvenation, 2–4 sessions spaced about 4–6 weeks apart are common, depending on baseline volume loss.
Body, buttock and hip‑dip treatments usually require higher total volumes and may need 3–4 (or more) sessions for meaningful collagen remodelling and contour change.
Each session involves multiple injection points tailored to the treatment area, often followed by massage to help distribute the product evenly within the tissue.
-
Any initial “fullness” directly after treatment is mostly from the water used to reconstitute Sculptra and settles within a few days.
New collagen production is gradual; subtle changes may be noticed from around 6–8 weeks, with more visible improvements building over 3–6 months.
Clinical data and long‑term experience show that results can last around 2 years or more after a completed treatment course, especially in facial areas, though this varies by individual, area treated and lifestyle.
-
Most patients experience mild swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising at injection sites, usually resolving over several days; larger‑volume body treatments can feel “full” or achy for a short period.
Sculptra is best suited to patients who prefer gradual, subtle improvement, are comfortable waiting for collagen to build, and want more structural, long‑lasting changes rather than short‑term “quick fix” filling.
