Microneedling

Microneedling is a highly effective treatment for improving skin texture, reducing the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and other imperfections, and stimulating natural collagen production. At our clinic, we offer both standard microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) microneedling, providing tailored options to suit a range of skin concerns and goals.

Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin using tiny needles. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production to rejuvenate the skin from within. With the addition of radiofrequency energy in RF microneedling, the treatment penetrates deeper layers of the skin, further enhancing results by tightening and firming.

  • Standard Microneedling:

    1. Micro-Injuries to Stimulate Healing: Tiny needles create controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface. This process stimulates the body’s natural repair mechanisms, including the production of collagen and elastin.

    2. Improved Skin Renewal: The increased cell turnover smooths the skin, reduces pigmentation, and improves the overall appearance of fine lines, scars, and uneven texture.

    3. Topical Enhancements: During or after microneedling, serums or skincare products are often applied to the skin. The microchannels created by the needles enhance absorption, allowing active ingredients to penetrate deeper for better results.

    Radiofrequency Microneedling:

    1. Combining Needles with RF Energy: In addition to the micro-injuries, RF microneedling delivers radiofrequency energy deep into the skin. This energy generates heat, stimulating collagen and elastin production in the dermal layers.

    2. Enhanced Skin Tightening: The heat from the RF energy helps to tighten the skin, making it an excellent choice for addressing sagging or more advanced signs of ageing.

    3. Deeper, More Targeted Results: RF microneedling targets deeper layers of the skin, making it suitable for treating more severe scars, wrinkles, and skin laxity.

    1. Improved Skin Texture: Both standard and RF microneedling improve uneven skin texture, leaving it smoother and more refined.

    2. Reduction in Fine Lines and Wrinkles: The collagen-boosting effects reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, providing a more youthful complexion.

    3. Scar Reduction: Microneedling is highly effective for reducing the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks.

    4. Even Skin Tone: By promoting cell renewal, the treatment can reduce pigmentation issues and create a more even complexion.

    5. Skin Tightening (with RF Microneedling): The addition of radiofrequency energy enhances skin firmness and reduces sagging, making it an excellent choice for ageing skin.

    6. Minimally Invasive: Microneedling is a non-surgical treatment with minimal discomfort and no need for anaesthesia.

  • The downtime for microneedling varies depending on whether standard or RF microneedling is performed:

    Standard Microneedling:

    • Minimal Downtime: Most clients experience mild redness and swelling immediately after the treatment, similar to a mild sunburn. This typically subsides within 24-48 hours.

    • Post-Treatment Effects: Some peeling or flaking may occur as the skin renews itself, usually lasting a few days.

    Radiofrequency Microneedling:

    • Slightly Longer Recovery: Due to the addition of RF energy, some clients may experience redness, swelling, or sensitivity for 48-72 hours. These effects are temporary and manageable.

    • Post-Treatment Care: Avoiding heat exposure (e.g., saunas or intense exercise) and direct sun exposure is recommended for a few days after treatment.

    General Aftercare:

Clients are advised to use gentle skincare products, avoid exfoliation, and apply sunscreen to protect the skin during the healing process.

  • The frequency of microneedling treatments depends on the client’s skin concerns and the type of microneedling being performed:

    Standard Microneedling:

    • For general skin rejuvenation, sessions are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

    • A course of 3-6 treatments is usually recommended for optimal results.

    RF Microneedling:

    • Due to the deeper effects of RF microneedling, sessions are spaced slightly further apart, typically 6-8 weeks apart.

    • A course of 3-4 treatments is generally sufficient to achieve noticeable improvements.

  • Microneedling delivers progressive, natural-looking improvements that enhance over time:

    After One Session:

    • Many clients notice a brighter complexion and smoother texture within a week of their first treatment.

    After a Full Course:

    • Significant improvements in skin tone, texture, and firmness are typically visible after completing a full course of treatments.

    Long-Lasting Results:

    • With regular maintenance, the benefits of microneedling can be sustained for years, keeping the skin healthy and rejuvenated.

  • Microneedling is suitable for a wide range of skin types and concerns, including:

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Acne scars and surgical scars

    • Stretch marks

    • Uneven skin tone or texture

    • Enlarged pores

    • Mild skin laxity
